Last week I took a long walk around our eight acres – which I really ought to do more often. I took a bunch of photos to give you an idea of our space, how we use (and fail to use) it, some antique curiosities around the place, as well as some projects that would be great to do.
This month we decided to bring our home up to ancient Roman standards, and get water. In our house. From the government. Yes, it turns out that in this, the twenty-first century, you can finally get water to your house, from your town! I joke, but initially I was actually pretty torn about getting off of well water.
I’m always on the prowl for inspiration for our house and finding others who have restored their antique homes. There are so many amazing ideas out there!
As you may have noticed in my post about restoring the front of the house … we finally chose a new color for our front (and side) doors!
This summer we addressed the first of a number of real issues with our house – the siding on the front.
We are lucky to have a number of historical sources about our home. One important piece of history that you don’t hear about often in school with regard to New England was that some farm owners, including the family that originally built and lived in our house, owned slaves.
