Given that we are swimming in fresh eggs, I wasn’t about to buy white eggs just to have something for my kids to dye for Easter! I bought a few different products that I thought might work to dye brown and blue eggs.
Even though we’re not exactly located in the wilderness, we have about seven acres and are surrounded by conservation land. This means a constant stream of wildlife takes advantage of our space. Thought I’d share some photos of our frequent visitors over the last year or so!
I’m very excited because we’ve started working with a landscape designer to solve some of our persistent problems around the property! While I’m pretty confident with interiors, when it comes to the outdoors I know how to grow food and flowers, but nothing about drainage, yards and hardscapes.
In early spring my grandmother used to forage a ridiculous amount of dandelions on her morning walks and make amazing dandelion salads. You may be prejudiced against dandelions because you’ve bought them in the supermarket when they’re mature, and bitter, and generally gross. BUT – stick with me, because new spring dandelions are a different beast altogether …
Due to a persistent leak that is likely coming from underneath the floor in my kids’ bathroom, we may well need to add on a re-do of that room to our kitchen reno (as you may recall, the leak comes from the kids’ bath down to the kitchen ceiling. Wonderful). I have 49” space to work with for a vanity. I’d love a double sink, but that may not be in the cards cause it would be tight, so I’m looking at repurposing a dresser or chest, or using a trough sink.
Now that I’m deep into designing our kitchen, I’m finding that I’m pinning the same details in different kitchens again and again. Now, I’m trying to prioritize my favorite things and find a way to make them all work together. To that end, I’m rounding up kitchen detail inspiration!
Now that I’m giving heavy thought to what will go where in my kitchen, I’ve discovered there are so, so many tools in my kitchen that I just don’t use. I plan to do a ‘kitchen audit’ and get rid of items that are at this point just clutter. To that end, here’s a list of what tools I plan to keep.
In my endless searching for kitchens I love I stumbled across Seattle-based designer Heidi Caillier. Her moody colors, use of bold color and range of style is really inspiring!
After Foxmaggedon 2018, it was clear we’d want to replenish our flock with some new chickens, and we chose breeds that would add some color to our egg basket.
